Located in Toora VIC 3962, in the South Gippsland region of Victoria, AR BACON FAMILY TRUST is currently seeking an experienced and reliable Dairy Cattle Farm Operator to become part of their farming team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operating milking plant and equipment and carrying out daily milking duties.
• Monitoring dairy cattle health, behaviour, condition and general wellbeing.
• Feeding, handling and moving cattle safely in accordance with farm procedures and animal welfare standards.
• Reading and recording relevant farm information, including milk vat temperatures, cattle numbers and production data.
• Operating and maintaining farm machinery, equipment and other tools used in daily dairy operations.
• Assisting with livestock breeding activities and herd management procedures as required.
• Identifying signs of illness, injury or other livestock health concerns and reporting them appropriately.
• Maintaining clean and hygienic milking facilities, yards, sheds and other farm work areas.
• Assisting with general farm maintenance, including fencing, equipment and infrastructure.
• Following workplace health and safety, biosecurity and animal welfare procedures at all times.
• Managing cattle feeding requirements, including the preparation and distribution of feed and monitoring stock nutritional needs.
• Assisting with pasture and fodder management activities, including grazing rotations and seasonal farm production tasks.
• Assisting with calf rearing and herd management activities, including feeding, weaning, livestock identification and breeding programs.

About you:

• Relevant qualification in agriculture or dairy farming, or at least three years of relevant work experience in dairy farming or cattle operations.or a similar agricultural role.
• Sound knowledge of dairy cattle handling, animal husbandry and welfare practices.
• Experience operating milking equipment and farm machinery.
• Ability to recognise and respond appropriately to livestock health and welfare issues.
• Good practical skills and the ability to carry out routine farm maintenance tasks.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work both independently and as part of a farming team.
• Good communication skills and a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Job Type: Permanent/Full-time
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per annum
