Their Shearwater Restaurant & Café is a modern Australian restaurant located in Summerlands VIC 3922. It offers fresh, locally sourced meals, beverages and coffee, providing visitors with a quality dining experience before or after viewing the iconic Little Penguins.
  
Create Catering - Shearwater Restaurant & Café is now looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join their team.
  
The right candidate will be responsible for:

• Assisting the Head Chef in the daily operation of the kitchen and supervising kitchen staff.
• Preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards.
• Monitoring food quality, portion control and presentation to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction.
• Assisting with menu planning, seasonal specials and the development of new dishes using fresh local produce.
• Supervising food preparation, stock rotation and inventory control, and assisting with ordering supplies.
• Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations at all times.
• Training, mentoring and coordinating junior kitchen staff to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
• Assisting in managing kitchen workflow during busy service periods to ensure meals are prepared and served promptly.

About you:

• At least 1 year of experience as a Sous Chef;
• Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen operations and contemporary cooking techniques.
• Ability to lead, supervise and train kitchen staff in a fast-paced environment.
• Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
• Ability to maintain high standards of food quality, consistency and presentation.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure during busy service periods.
• Stock control and inventory management skills, including ordering and minimising food wastage.

Job type: Permanent/full-time
Salary: $80,000 - $83,000
