Commercial Electrical Foreman | Northern California (Bay Area, Central Valley & Sacramento)
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Powerstaff is working with an established commercial electrical contractor that is hiring a Foreman to lead crews on permanent projects across the Bay Area, Central Valley and Sacramento Region.
They build across Commercial, Industrial, Multi-Family, Healthcare, Education, Mission Critical and Data Center work. THE ROLE
You'll run commercial electrical crews on site and keep each job safe, on schedule and built right. Day to day, you'll work with Project Managers, Project Engineers, General Contractors, Inspectors and other trades, keeping productivity, safety and workmanship strong from start to finish.
It suits a hands-on leader who likes mentoring others and staying close to the work.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead, supervise and mentor electricians and apprentices on commercial projects
- Plan the daily work and assign tasks to keep the crew productive
- Interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics and specs
- Lay out conduit, wiring, switchgear, panels and equipment locations
- Coordinate with PMs, PEs, GCs and other trades on site
- Track the schedule and keep work moving safely and on time
- Make sure installations meet NEC, local codes and company quality standards
- Monitor labor productivity, materials, equipment and job progress
- Complete daily reports, timecards and material requisitions
- Run toolbox talks and enforce site safety procedures
- Solve installation problems and give technical guidance to the field
- Install and oversee conduit, wiring, panels, switchgear and related equipment
- Safely operate and supervise hydraulic benders, cable pullers, threaders, lifts and other specialty equipment
- Keep the site secure, clean and organized
WHAT YOU BRING You're a commercial electrician with leadership experience and a commitment to safe, quality work. Ideally you have:
- 3+ years of commercial electrical construction experience
- Prior time as a Foreman, Lead Electrician, Superintendent or similar
- A Journeyman Electrician license (Master Electrician highly regarded)
- Solid knowledge of commercial electrical systems and installation methods
- Strong command of the NEC and industry safety standards
- Experience scheduling work, coordinating crews and managing productivity
- The ability to read construction drawings and electrical plans
- Experience with material ordering and project coordination
- Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- The ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
A BONUS IF YOU HAVE - OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience on healthcare, education, industrial, multi-family, mission critical or data center projects
- Project documentation, scheduling and productivity reporting experience
- Experience with lifts, cable pulling equipment, hydraulic benders and large commercial installations

The company has a long pipeline of commercial electrical work across Northern California. There is clear progression into General Foreman, Superintendent and Operations leadership for people who perform.
THE PHYSICAL SIDE This is a hands-on leadership role. Expect to:
- Work from ladders, lifts, scaffolding and elevated platforms
- Lift and carry materials over 50 lbs
- Bend, kneel, crawl, climb and work in confined or elevated spaces
- Work outdoors in all weather
- Travel to job sites across Northern California (typically within about 100 miles of the Bay Area)
- Work overtime or the occasional night shift when schedules demand it
LOCATION This is a site-based role covering the San Francisco Bay Area, Greater Bay Area, Central Valley and Sacramento Region ideally seeking local candidates established in the area.
