Powerstaff is recruiting for an experienced Electrical Estimator in Sacramento California, to join a reputable contractor delivering large-scale electrical packages across the United States, with a strong focus on mission critical and data center projects. This is an opportunity to be a key contributor in a high-performing preconstruction team that plays a major role in securing and delivering complex national projects.

You’ll work across estimating, cost planning, takeoffs, vendor engagement, bid compilation and project handover, helping win major electrical work packages from early tender through to award.

The Role You will be responsible for preparing competitive and accurate electrical estimates, reviewing documentation, coordinating with suppliers/subcontractors and supporting bid strategy for major project tenders.

This role suits someone analytical, detail-driven, and confident in the commercial elements of preconstruction.

Key responsibilities include:

• Reviewing tender drawings/specifications to define scope, risks, and requirements
• Preparing detailed cost estimates and material takeoffs for electrical systems
• Coordinating with vendors & subcontractors to source competitive pricing
• Comparing inclusions/exclusions and negotiating compliant scopes
• Producing accurate quantity takeoffs and entering data into estimating software
• Supporting bid evaluation, tender submission and internal review processes
• Preparing summary reports and budgets for leadership approval
• Assisting with bid handover into the project delivery team when awarded
• Maintaining contact with clients through pre-award and post-bid phases
• Participating in post-bid feedback and continual tender improvement

About You:

You’ll have strong technical knowledge of electrical construction and be confident working across estimating, design documents, drawings, quantities and pricing. You can manage multiple tenders and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and detail.

You will ideally bring:

• 3–5+ years experience in electrical estimating or preconstruction
• Strong understanding of commercial/industrial electrical systems
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans and specifications
• Experience working on data centers or mission critical projects desirable
• Proficiency in estimating/quantity takeoff software (Accubid, Bluebeam etc.)
• Advanced skills in Excel & construction documentation workflows
• Strong communication skills with builders, vendors and internal teams
• Ability to work independently & collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
