Leading Communications Technology organisation located in Sydney CBD are seeking a permanent Embedded Software Engineering Manager to lead their integrated wireless communications solutions team. The team comprises a multi-disciplinary mix of experienced wireless communications specialists in digital signal processing and embedded software development. Collectively the team designs, develops and delivers multi- domain mission critical communications systems for our nation’s armed forces and their international radio manufacturer customer base.
  
Holding Australian citizenship is mandatory, and the applicant must be willing to undergo NV1 security vetting.
  
Key Responsibility Areas

• Managing a small (10-15 member) multi-disciplinary team of engineers
• Day-to-day management responsibilities include prioritising, directing and overseeing engineers and engineering activities, and responsibility for the quality and timeliness of technical outputs across several simultaneous projects.
• Strategic management responsibilities include resource planning to support current and future projects, the contribution of technical estimates, advice and planning to potential future projects, and the hiring and retention of key staff as the company grows.
• Customer-facing project management and technical sales support to Australian and international defence and radio manufacturer customers as a key member of the customer relationship team.
• Providing technical leadership on software development, including monitoring, updating and applying engineering procedures and ensuring those procedures are supported by the appropriate tooling and environments.

• 10+ years’ experience in software engineering.
• Experience in software development for embedded platforms and/or software engineering for wireless communications is beneficial, but not essential.
• A keen interest in emerging technology and problem-solving for public safety and national defence
• A degree in Wireless Communications, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or a related field.
• High quality documentation is essential to underpin engineering processes and technical outputs.
• This role requires strong written communication skills to ensure the quality of software and documentation is maintained.
• Understanding of P25 is nice to have
