Role Overview: Reporting to the Board, the CEO is responsible for the effective delivery of legal and other services to disadvantaged and vulnerable clients residing in the southern, southeast and Riverland regions. Along with meeting funding objectives including executing revenue growth strategies, overseeing corporate governance, marketing, programs, and strategic planning of the organisation.
Main responsibilities: - Collaborate with the Board to fulfill the organisation’s vision, and values
- Ensure compliance with, and provide guidance around the Community Legal Centres Australia’s Risk Management Guide, Professional Indemnity Scheme, Code of Conduct and Company policy and procedures
- Provide leadership, direction, and advice in the development of program, operational and financial plans
- Responsibility for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organisation in a positive financial position
- Completion of monthly/quarterly reporting to the Commonwealth and State Attorney-General’s Departments as outlined in funding agreements
- Development of new initiatives relating to the legal practice and the professional development of the practice
- Responsible for fundraising and developing other revenues necessary to support the organisations vision
- Responsible for strategic planning to ensure we can successfully fulfill our vision into the future
- Monitor, approve and streamline legal practice procedures and implement clear guidelines for best practice in service provision
- Responsible for HR management alongside external providers, including staff training and development, employee relationships, performance management, employee engagement, and the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff
- Ensure corporate and regulatory compliance
What you will bring: - Experience in a senior role for a not-for-profit and/or community focussed organisation
- 7+ years post-admission experience in family, criminal or civil practice
- Experience in working with a Board of Directors
- Hold or be eligible to hold an unrestricted practising certificate in South Australia
- Degree in Law or similar
- Current Driver’s License
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and passion for social justice principles, and an understanding of the legal assistance sector
- Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organisations of influence, including funders, partner agencies and community
- Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, including preparing competitive tenders, grant applications, and funding proposals
- High level strategic and innovative thinking and planning
- Demonstrate strong, empathetic, and innovative leadership, taking ownership for achieving outcomes
