Software Developer

The Opportunity
Calgary, AB • Full-Time • Hybrid
A growing payments technology company is seeking a mid-level Software Developer to help build and maintain the systems that power how merchants are paid. You will contribute to critical financial systems spanning settlement, funding, accounting, reconciliation and reserves, working closely with Product, DevOps, Data and Risk teams to develop reliable solutions, improve operational efficiency and support the accuracy of financial operations.

What You'll Do

• Translate product requirements into scalable, maintainable software solutions and deliver full-stack features.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, DevOps, Data and Risk teams to define requirements and technical approaches.
• Build and maintain APIs and services supporting critical financial processes.
• Develop clean, tested code focused on reliability, performance and data integrity.
• Build and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines and deploy applications across AWS or GCP.
• Investigate production issues and implement solutions that improve system stability.
• Work with SQL databases, including query optimization and data analysis.
• Use BigQuery to support data-driven operational and product decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, automation and technical standards.
• Work with operational teams and Product to understand challenges and refine solutions.

What We Are Looking For

• 4–5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong SQL/MySQL experience, including query optimization.
• Proficiency in a programming language; PHP/Laravel is an asset.
• Experience with Vue 3 or React/Angular.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD and AWS/GCP.
• Experience with APIs, BigQuery or similar data warehouses.
• Ability to independently deliver features and lead technical projects.
• Strong testing, problem-solving and software development practices.
• Effective communication across technical and non-technical teams.
• Familiarity with Kafka and Kubernetes is an asset.
