Contract Data Analyst Location: Calgary, Alberta

They are seeking a Contract Data Analyst to support a period of increased demand for analytics and reporting across the business. This role will directly enable better decision-making across corporate functions by delivering high-quality, scalable, and governed data visualizations.
Your work will help transform complex upstream and corporate data into trusted, actionable insights.
The Role Reporting to the Team Lead, Analytics, you will work closely with business stakeholders and the internal analytics team to design, build, and maintain Tableau dashboards across multiple corporate domains.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong Tableau expertise, solid experience working with Databricks or data lake environments, and familiarity with oil and gas corporate datasets.
The ideal candidate combines technical rigor with strong stakeholder engagement and a deep understanding of governed analytics environments.
What You’ll Do Data Analytics (Primary Focus)
- Design, build, and maintain Tableau dashboards aligned to BI best practices
- Partner with corporate stakeholders (Finance, Commercial, Land, Supply Chain, etc.) to gather and translate reporting requirements
- Ensure dashboards are scalable, consistent, and aligned with governance standards
- Conduct dashboard testing, validation, documentation, and knowledge transfer
- Support self-service analytics initiatives
Data Development (Secondary Focus)
- Query and transform datasets in Databricks or data lake platforms
- Assess raw datasets for structure, relationships, and data quality issues
- Determine appropriate joins, transformations, and cleaning logic
- Ingest and model new data sources
- Maintain and enhance existing datasets
- Work with evolving and multi-domain enterprise data
What Success Looks Like
- Consistent, trusted Tableau dashboards used across corporate functions
- Clean, well-modeled datasets supporting repeatable reporting workflows
- Strong stakeholder adoption and confidence in analytics outputs
- Adherence to governance and BI standards
What You’ll Bring Required Experience
- Proven experience developing dashboards in Tableau
- Strong working knowledge of Databricks or other data lake platforms
- Experience working with enterprise, multi-domain datasets
- Demonstrated ability to assess raw data and independently determine appropriate joins and transformations
- Experience operating within governed analytics environments
Preferred Experience
- Oil and gas industry experience, particularly in corporate functions
- Experience with financial or reserve systems such as Qbyte, Execute, or Valnav
- Experience supporting spreadsheet inputs and writeback workflows
- Understanding of data lake architecture and concepts
- Familiarity with data ingestion and modeling practices
- Experience with OLAP and tabular models (e.g., Analysis Services)
