Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) is seeking a highly organised and proactive professional to join our organisation as the Assistant to the General Manager (GM). This is a pivotal role providing high‑level executive, governance and operational support across one of Australia's most significant Aboriginal landholding bodies.
APY Lands is home to the Anangu, Pitjantjatjara, Yankunytjatjara and Ngaanyatjarra people, recognised as the Traditional Owners under the APY Land Rights Act 1981 (SA). Spanning more than 102,000 square kilometres, the region includes seven communities and multiple homelands.
APY Administration operates across Umuwa (on the Lands) and Adelaide, supporting the Executive Board and delivering programs that reflect Anangu priorities.
About the Role
The Assistant to the General Manager plays a central role in ensuring the smooth and effective functioning of APY's executive operations. You will provide comprehensive administrative, secretariat and coordination support to the GM, while also assisting with governance processes, project activities and operational communication across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide high‑level executive support to the GM, including diary management, document preparation, meeting coordination and travel arrangements.
- Coordinate governance and administrative functions for Board sub‑committees, including agendas, minutes and follow‑up actions.
- Support the GM's direct reports by facilitating communication, workflow and operational alignment.
- Lead or assist with minor projects as directed, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to organisational standards.
- Monitor and manage shared inboxes, digital calendars, overflow calls and provide office support as required.

- Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and modern workplace systems.
- Respectful understanding of Anangu culture and the unique social and geographic context of the APY Lands.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in an Executive Assistant or senior administrative role (government, community services or not‑for‑profit experience highly regarded).
- Experience in governance or committee secretariat functions (desirable).
- Certificate or Diploma in Business Administration or related field (desirable).
