Meerilinga is an iconic not-for-profit organisation and registered charity based in Perth, Western Australia that promotes positive childhoods through direct programs and services for children, parents, families, communities and students. It is both an Early Childhood Education and Care provider and Registered Training Organisation.
 
Aiming to improve the quality of life for children in WA and the promotion of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Meerilinga is recognised for excellence in service delivery and education. It provides a diverse range of resources and support that deliver impact for local communities, professional educators, and a variety of sector stakeholders.
 
Meerilinga provides access to both free and fee-based programs and services across two operating entities:

• Meerilinga Children and Community Foundation Inc, operating as Meerilinga Training College
• Meerilinga Children and Community Services Inc, delivering early learning programs, parenting and community services.

 
Meerilinga strongly believes in the power of community-based early childhood education, balancing teaching and learning through a play-based approach that encourages children to be curious – to ask questions, to explore, and to find joy in the world around them.
 
As a registered charity, Meerilinga also partners with the WA Government, corporate and community sectors to support parents and families.
 
About the Role
Meerilinga is entering an exciting phase of transformation. With a renewed strategic focus emerging, the organisation is enhancing its financial framework to support optimisation, operational excellence and community impact.
 
To lead this initiative, Meerilinga is seeking an experienced Executive Manager – Finance, who will play a fundamental role in shaping financial strategy, governance, contract management and compliance. This position is a trusted member of the Senior Management Team and a key adviser to the CEO and Board.
 
Leading a small, close-knit finance team, the Executive Manager – Finance will drive strong financial practices, accountability, and legislative compliance. The role requires high-level strategic insight, financial modelling expertise and a commitment to ensuring the organisation remains healthy, transparent and future-ready.
 
The Executive Manager – Finance will strategically support and provide operational oversight of contract management for IT, Human Resources and Financial consultants currently providing services to the organisation. You will be the interface with the CEO and Board for these functions , providing guidance, structure and accountability from a strategic, operational and financial contract management perspective.
 
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Provide executive oversight of Meerilinga’s financial operations, including payroll, accounts, reporting, and audit.
• Lead the budgeting process, ensuring sustainable financial planning.
• Provide Executive oversight and support for IT, HR and Financial consultants and/or personnel.
• Analyse, report and improve the business financial and operational performance.
• Manage property and assets, aligning resources with organisational goals.
• Oversee systems and data, risk, governance and compliance, embedding leading practice.
• Support and direct the administration, WHS, maintenance and repairs team.

About You
The organisation is looking for a current finance leader with the experience and high-level thinking to drive the financial support for the organisation, CEO and Board’s ambitious direction.
 
As an individual, you will be values-driven and able to engender trust, empathy and accountability to go along with your business and technical financial acumen.
 
Suitable candidates will possess the following skills and attributes (the selection criteria):

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, or Business. An accounting qualification such as a Chartered Accountant or Certified Practicing Accountant is preferred.
• Membership with relevant professional bodies such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) or CPA Australia.
• Extensive financial leadership experience and strong proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Experience leading and managing teams.
• Strong strategic financial acumen with the ability to align financial strategies with overall strategic goals.
• Experience in providing financial reporting and the development of business cases for decision-making at the Executive and Board levels.
• Understanding of financial risk management principles and proven ability to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organisation.
