The opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Unit Manager CICU to lead and coordinate the delivery of quality nursing care within a specialised Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The successful candidate will provide strong clinical and operational leadership, ensuring compliance with professional nursing standards while promoting a culture of patient safety, quality care and service excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee the delivery of safe, high-quality nursing care within the CICU.
- Ensure compliance with professional, ethical and clinical nursing standards.
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day functioning of the unit.
- Monitor quality patient care and ensure appropriate nursing practices are maintained.
- Lead, mentor and develop nursing staff to maximise their potential and performance.
- Coordinate staff capacity building, training and development initiatives.
- Promote effective multidisciplinary collaboration with doctors and other healthcare professionals.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with patients, doctors, staff and other stakeholders.
- Monitor the utilisation and management of resources within the unit.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and implement corrective actions where required.
- Support the achievement of hospital and departmental objectives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant healthcare legislation, policies and procedures.
Requirements: - Registered as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Relevant nursing qualification.
- Diploma or degree in Nursing Management will be advantageous.
- Post-basic qualification in Critical Care Nursing is essential.
- Previous experience in a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit or specialised intensive care environment.
- Previous Unit Manager or supervisory experience within a private hospital environment.
- Strong clinical leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound knowledge of nursing care standards, quality assurance and healthcare legislation.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
