The opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse Cath Lab to join a specialised Cath Lab team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering individualised, holistic and person-centred nursing care while supporting patients throughout specialised cardiac procedures. This role is ideally suited to a Registered Nurse with proven Cath Lab experience who is passionate about clinical excellence, patient safety and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document individualised nursing care.
- Provide specialised nursing care to patients undergoing Cath Lab procedures.
- Act as a clinical resource and support colleagues in delivering safe and effective patient care.
- Monitor patients and respond appropriately to changes in their clinical condition.
- Initiate and maintain emergency treatment and resuscitation when required.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, doctors and members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Coordinate patient care in collaboration with the broader healthcare team.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation.
- Promote and maintain professional nursing standards, policies and procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement, clinical governance and patient safety initiatives.
- Assist with the orientation, mentoring and development of nursing staff and students.
- Maintain professional competence and keep up to date with current nursing practices and relevant policies.
Requirements: - Registered as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Relevant nursing qualification.
- Relevant specialist qualification will be advantageous.
- Proven experience working in a Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory.
- Thorough knowledge of general and specialised nursing theory and practice.
- Ability to provide high-quality nursing care within a specialised clinical environment.
- Sound knowledge of applicable healthcare legislation, standards and clinical procedures.
- Current CPR/resuscitation competency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong clinical judgement, organisational skills and attention to detail.
