Our client is a specialised residential treatment and rehabilitation centre providing personalised, multidisciplinary care to individuals experiencing addiction, substance abuse, eating disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions. The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse with a psychiatric background to join a dedicated multidisciplinary team in a specialised inpatient environment. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients, including medication management, clinical documentation and patient monitoring, while taking responsibility for the nursing requirements of the shift. The role requires someone compassionate, adaptable and confident working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout the shift.
- Administer, dispense and order medication in accordance with professional and clinical requirements.
- Monitor patients and attend to their medical and nursing needs.
- Complete accurate patient reports and clinical notes using an electronic system.
- Conduct patient rounds, including night rounds.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of 2 to 3 carers during the shift.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, specialists and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Work independently and use initiative when managing patient needs.
- Contribute to a positive learning culture by sharing knowledge, ideas and techniques.
- Provide compassionate, patient-centred care to individuals experiencing addiction, eating disorders and mental health challenges.
- Maintain a high standard of professional nursing practice at all times.
Requirements: - Relevant qualification as a Registered Nurse.
- Psychiatric nursing experience and/or qualification.
- Valid registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Previous experience in the private healthcare sector.
- Previous inpatient nursing experience.
- Demonstrable experience working with substance abuse and eating disorders is essential.
- Previous experience in a psychiatric setting is essential.
- Excellent command of English.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for patient care.
- A compassionate, patient-centred approach with a willingness to think creatively and contribute new ideas.
- Ability to adapt quickly and take ownership of responsibilities from the outset.
