The opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for a qualified and compassionate Phlebotomist to join a dynamic healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting blood and other patient specimens safely and accurately while delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and complex blood and specimen collection procedures in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide pre- and post-test counselling to patients and their families, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns.
- Ensure patient safety by identifying, preventing and reporting clinical risks.
- Adhere to infection prevention, control and health and safety protocols to maintain a safe and sterile working environment.
- Accurately capture and process patient and clinical information.
- Maintain accurate stock records and ensure all utilised stock is correctly recorded and charged.
- Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support high-quality patient care.
- Deliver a professional, compassionate and patient-centred service at all times.
Requirements: - Registered or Enrolled Nurse qualification, or a Certificate in Phlebotomy Techniques.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years' post-qualification experience in phlebotomy or nursing.
- Sound knowledge of phlebotomy procedures and specimen collection techniques.
- Understanding of relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, clinical policies and procedures.
- Strong patient assessment and counselling skills.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control protocols.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
