The Client
Our client is a respected specialist medical practice providing comprehensive internal medicine services, with a particular focus on gastroenterology. The practice is committed to delivering high-quality patient care and offers an environment where clinicians can work closely alongside an experienced specialist while developing their own clinical interests.
 
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a Family Physician to join an established private specialist practice. The successful candidate will work alongside a specialist physician, managing both outpatient and inpatient caseloads across a private hospital setting. The role includes consulting with patients in the practice, conducting daily ward rounds, participating in ICU patient management, and providing ongoing care to private patients admitted to hospital. Candidates with an interest in gastroenterology will be particularly well suited to this role, with the potential for mentorship and exposure within the specialty.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Consult and manage patients presenting with a wide range of internal medicine conditions
• Conduct daily ward rounds for private hospital patients
• Participate in the management of critically ill patients within the ICU environment
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records
• Collaborate closely with the practice principal to ensure continuity of care
• Liaise with specialists, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
• Provide high standards of patient-centred care across both outpatient and inpatient settings
• Contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the practice

Requirements

• MBChB qualification
• Current HPCSA registration
• Registered Specialist Physician preferred
• General Physicians are encouraged to apply
• Interest in gastroenterology advantageous
• Experience managing hospital inpatients and conducting ward rounds
• ICU exposure and confidence managing acute medical patients advantageous
• Strong clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently within a private practice setting

Location: Johannesburg

Salary: Nett R200 000 - R250 000
