As the leading medical recruitment agency in South Africa, our client has an exciting opportunity for a Group Funder Relations & Revenue Cycle Manager to be based in Johannesburg.
The Client
Our client is a reputable private hospital group operating multiple healthcare facilities across South Africa. The organisation is focused on clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and sustainable financial performance within an evolving healthcare funding environment.
The Opportunity
This senior leadership role combines strategic funder engagement with operational oversight of the group's collections and revenue cycle functions. The successful candidate will lead funder relationships, negotiate agreements, and simultaneously drive debtor management performance across multiple facilities to optimise cash flow, reduce revenue leakage, and strengthen contract compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage strategic relationships with medical schemes, administrators, and healthcare funders.
- Negotiate and maintain funder contracts, including service level agreements and reimbursement models.
- Oversee the end-to-end debtor's collection and accounts receivable process across the hospital group.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce AR days, improve net collection rates, and minimise bad debt.
- Analyse claims rejections and short payments, driving root-cause resolution with internal teams.
- Monitor clean claim rates, rejection trends, and funder performance metrics.
- Ensure contractual compliance and maximise short payment recovery through appeals and negotiation.
- Collaborate closely with Patient Administration Managers and finance teams to optimise billing processes.
- Implement and track KPIs relating to revenue optimisation, collections effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
- Prepare executive dashboards and reports for senior leadership and the CFO.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, billing guidelines, and funder/NHN policies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the revenue cycle and funder engagement functions.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business, or related field (Master's advantageous).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, funder relations, or managed care within a private hospital environment.
- Strong understanding of South African private healthcare funding models, billing processes, coding systems, and reimbursement methodologies.
- Proven experience managing accounts receivable, collections performance, and revenue optimisation strategies.
- Demonstrated contract negotiation and stakeholder management capability.
- Proficiency in Hospital Information Systems and financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
