The client
A next-generation preventive health institute located at the V&A Waterfront, bringing screening and diagnostics together with specialist practitioners in a premium, guest-centred environment. The model blends physical and digital experiences, with AI-enhanced decision support and secure, privacy first digital health wallets that place guests in control of their data.
The opportunity
Support a modern screening pathway by leading safe blood collection, sample processing, testing, and high quality documentation that feeds into integrated clinical reporting. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on early detection, accuracy, and an exceptional guest journey.
Key responsibilities
- Perform high-quality phlebotomy with excellent patient care and identification practices
- Process samples (reception, centrifugation, aliquoting, packaging) and maintain cold chain for courier dispatch
- Maintain instruments, calibration logs, and consumable inventory
- Capture results accurately in LIMS/EHR; safeguard confidentiality and POPIA compliance
- Prepare and maintain clean, safe work areas in line with infection prevention and control standards
- Monitor turnaround times, escalate abnormal/critical results, and collaborate closely with clinicians
Requirement - HPCSA-registered Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist (Medical Technology Board)
- NDip/BTech/BRadSci/BSc in Biomedical Technology or equivalent, with validated scope for phlebotomy and sample processing
- 2+ years' recent experience in phlebotomy, pre-analytics, and POCT in a clinic or laboratory setting
- Excellent communication, empathy, and service orientation; calm and methodical under pressure
- Willingness to cross-train and assist across the guest journey in a fast-evolving, tech-enabled clinic
