The opportunity
You will take end-to-end responsibility for a surgical nursing unit, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care while leading an engaged team, optimising resources, and delivering a consistently positive client experience.
Key responsibilities
- Uphold clinical quality standards in line with hospital policies and procedures
- Identify, manage, and mitigate clinical risks within the unit
- Lead, coach, roster, and performance-manage nursing staff
- Plan and control operational and capital budgets to ensure efficient resource use
- Drive a patient-centred culture and manage feedback to enhance experience
- Collaborate effectively with other departments to achieve shared outcomes
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Requirement - Professional Nurse qualification
- Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management or an accredited management qualification, or at least five years of leadership experience in a hospital setting
- If managing a specialist unit, a relevant Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing is advantageous
- Minimum five years’ hospital experience as a Professional Nurse and at least two years in a leadership role
- Sound knowledge of clinical risk, infection prevention and control, and nursing practice standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong report-writing and documentation skills
- Working knowledge of auditing and accreditation, quality improvement, HR processes, and productivity management
- Understanding of healthcare legislation, financial management principles, and patient complaint resolution
