The Client

The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to play a pivotal part in setting up and running an accredited histopathology laboratory. The Medical Scientist will not only ensure compliance with HPCSA standards and accreditation requirements but will also mentor and supervise a cohort of up to five intern medical scientists each year, fostering their growth in the field of histology.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced histopathology techniques in a laboratory setting.
- Prepare, maintain, and ensure compliance with accreditation standards for the training laboratory.
- Oversee training, supervision, and portfolio sign-off for intern medical scientists.
- Develop outcomes-based training materials and assessment tools to support learning.
- Conduct staff performance assessments and identify areas for development.
- Promote and maintain positive client relationships, representing the organisation professionally.
Requirements - Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours (Anatomical Pathology).
- Current HPCSA registration as a Medical Scientist (Anatomical Pathology).
- Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in a Histopathology laboratory.
- Strong problem-solving, leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Excellent communication and time management abilities.
- Sound knowledge of HPCSA standards, healthcare regulations, and research methodologies.
