As the leading medical recruitment agency in South Africa, our client has an exciting opportunity for a Group HR Manager based in JHB, South Africa. The Group HR Manager is responsible for co-creating and implementing the human resources strategy across a multi-site hospital group. Overseeing five hospitals and supporting local HR Managers, the role ensures effective alignment of HR practices with business objectives. The Group HR Manager will drive talent acquisition, employee development, engagement, and operational efficiency, while ensuring compliance with South African labor laws. This role promotes a culture of personal responsibility, empowering talent, and exceptional patient care by ensuring that nurses love being nurses, doctors love being doctors, and leaders love being leaders.
Responsibilities:
- This role covers HR strategy, operations, and policy implementation for five hospitals, impacting employees, doctors, nurses, and management. The Group HR Manager will drive HR transformation, culture development, talent management, and operational HR support while ensuring alignment with patient care goals. The role requires coordination with hospital managers, HR managers, clinical leadership, and department heads.
- Talent Retention: Maintain voluntary turnover below a set industry benchmark by implementing our Employee Value Proposition Framework
- Operational Integration: Successful HR integration for hospital HR process, people and systems in order to manage people effectiveness and efficiency.
- Employee Engagement: Achieve employee engagement scores above 70% on annual surveys.
- Talent Management: manage our talent and leadership pipeline through performance, learning and succession planning.
Requirements: - Education: Bachelor's Degree in HR, Industrial Psychology, or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications (MBA or Master's in HR) are preferred.
- Experience: 8-10 years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR role in the healthcare, hospital, or services industry.
- Healthcare Knowledge: Strong understanding of HR issues affecting the healthcare sector, such as nurse shortages, shift work policies, and clinical training.
- Operational Integration: Ability to manage HR transitions during acquisitions and ensure smooth people integration.
- Crisis Management: Ability to respond to emergencies, such as strikes, CCMA cases, or urgent workforce issues affecting hospital service delivery.
- Influence and Collaboration: Ability to influence hospital leaders, HR managers, and regulatory bodies.
- Certifications: Professional HR certification (SABPP, SHRM, CIPD) is advantageous.
- Resilience: Ability to work in high-pressure hospital environments.
- Empathy: Understand the pressures faced by nurses, doctors, and hospital leaders.
- Decisiveness: Ability to make quick, informed decisions during crises.
