The role covers high end projects with residential, commercial and government sectors. No two jobs are the same, so lots of variety and healthy challenges.

You will be able to combine previous skills: whether administration, site experience, quantity surveying skills, commercial acumen or a mind capable of financial analysis.
As our estimator you will be responsible for compiling estimates of how much it will cost to provide a client or potential client with products or services.
You will work out how much a project is likely to cost and create budgets accordingly.
The job involves assessing material, labour, equipment required and analysing different quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers.
You may work from a bill of quantities or just a set of drawings, schedules and reports from the client.
You will provide prices for everything, from small variations, high end residential builds to commercial projects.
Your goal is to get the best price that will win the contract in a competitive tendering situation, while ensuring that the contract can be carried out profitably.
Our estimator is also required to help write the submission read the requirements and ensure we have a complying submission.
Essential Skills:
- Methodical
- Use of Cubit or similar software
- Keep good records
- Understand the client’s documents
- Be able to interpret reports, plans and schedules
- Conceptual ability
- Be able to seek and take advice
- Constantly challenge yourself and others
- You’ll also need to be able to communicate well, verbally and in writing, and be able to manage projects
- Organisational and presentation skills are crucial
- Be able to meet tight deadlines
- Appreciation of data confidentiality, and to be aware of things like price trends, regulations and material rates
The pressure and fixed nature of deadlines for tender submissions means that some very late nights may sometimes be needed.
You will be based within a team environment, but also must be able to use your own initiative.

- A minimum of 5 years' experience working in residential and/or commercial estimating
- Good leadership skills will be evident with your presence and in your quality of work.
- Good communication skills and a proven ability to liaise with staff, sub-contractors and clients.
- You will have the ability to think on your feet and provide solutions to problems faced.
