Fleet Support Engineer - Heysham
Hunters 4 Staff are recruiting for a Fleet Support Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business in Heysham. This is a hands-on role working within a busy hire fleet operation, carrying out inspections, repairs, refurbishment and maintenance to ensure equipment is safe, reliable and ready for customer use.
This is a great opportunity for someone with engineering, fabrication, mechanical fitting or maintenance experience who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect returned hire fleet equipment and identify damage, defects and required repairs.
- Complete maintenance, repair and refurbishment work, including fabrication, welding, assembly and painting tasks.
- Produce accurate condition reports, repair records and cost estimates.
- Support planned maintenance programmes to improve fleet reliability and minimize downtime.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure equipment is prepared and available for customer demand.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, housekeeping and quality throughout the workshop.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a mechanical, engineering, fabrication, maintenance or workshop-based role.
- Ability to identify faults, assess repair requirements and carry out practical repair work.
- Competent using hand and power tools.
- Good attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
