Our government client is seeking a Hydrographer to assist in the field with the operation, maintenance and calibration of hydrometric instruments, and provision of hydrometric data and related services from water and wastewater networks. All training and certification will be provided, including Confined Spaces, General WHS Construction card, Traffic Control tickets, Senior First Aid and Specialist Gas Testing certificate.
Responsibilities of the role:
Assist in the undertaking of field operations (vehicle provided) in the collection, fault tracking and related services from hydrometric monitoring networks.
Safely enter/exit confined spaces within the wastewater network to collect/calibrate data and instruments.
Assist in the undertaking of calibration and maintenance of field instrumentation at monitoring points.
Assist in the undertaking of data processing and validation tasks and archiving to the database.
Assist in the Interpretation of hydrometric data and provide timely reporting on water cycle information.
Ensure all data is quality flagged in accordance with work procedures and project specifications as needed.
Assist in the undertaking of field data collection and measurement in line with relevant work instructions and standards.
Assist in the Maintenance of specialised hydrometric measurement and monitoring equipment in accordance with work procedures.
Utilise and review the document file reporting system for storage and reporting.
Assist in the resolution of data anomalies to agreed timeframes as per Monitoring Plan requirements.
Key requirements for the role:
Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated experience working in a field or laboratory environment.
Certification in Water Operations or willingness to obtain (desirable).
Valid Driver’s Licence.
Effective written and communication skills.
Experience using Microsoft suite of applications.
HYDSTRA database skills and knowledge (desirable).
Knowledge of the water cycle and wastewater systems, telemetry, hydrometric logging equipment and sensors, instrument calibration procedures and relevant Australian Standards (desirable).
Relevant experience in undertaking hydrometric and/ or related operations (desirable)
This assignment will run up to the end of April 2025 with the potential to be extended.
