The Opportunity
Lead our Import & Export team and play a key role in keeping international and coastal freight moving safely, efficiently, and compliantly through our Carole Park distribution operations.
As an Import and Export Team Leader, you'll oversee daily import/export activities, manage freight documentation, coordinate with carriers and stakeholders, and drive service excellence while ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. What you’ll do
- Lead a safe and compliant import/export operation by ensuring adherence to health, safety, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and operational standards, while maintaining a strong safety-first culture.
- Monitor compliance activities, equipment inspections, and incident management processes, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement across the distribution operation.
- Lead the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all import, export, and coastal freight activities, ensuring accurate order fulfilment, documentation, and adherence to customer, carrier, customs, and quarantine requirements.
- Coordinate packing, unloading, inventory handling, and stakeholder relationships to ensure timely freight movements, operational efficiency, and a high level of customer service.
- Lead, coach, and support the Import & Export team to ensure safe, efficient operations, capability development, and achievement of daily priorities.
- Act as the primary operational contact for the team, resolving day-to-day issues and escalating people, compliance, or operational matters as required.
- Support warehouse administration and inventory management activities, ensuring accurate stock control, system transactions within WMS/TMS, record keeping, and audit compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying operational inefficiencies, improving processes, and ensuring a strong focus on safety, compliance, service quality, and customer satisfaction.
What you’ll bring - Minimum 3 years’ experience in warehousing, distribution, export operations, administration, or customer service
- Valid Forklift Licence (LF) and demonstrated safe forklift operation in export/warehouse settings
- Previous experience in a Leading Hand or Team Leader capacity is desirable
- Strong knowledge of export and distribution operations
- Sound understanding of road transport safety, CoR, and compliance obligations
- Strong packing and unpacking experience: pallet configuration, weight distribution, load restraint, and export-ready presentation
- Knowledge of export processes: bookings, carrier cut-offs, and basic customs/quarantine export requirements
- Comfortable with WMS/TMS and MS Office (Excel/Outlook); scanner/RF workflows
- Commitment to safety and compliance, with the ability to reinforce safe behaviors and support Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) obligations through team leadership
