As a Maintenance Boilermaker, you will be part of a skilled maintenance team providing critical support to our Carole Park manufacturing operation. Working closely with both maintenance and operational teams, you will be responsible for the planning and execution of maintenance activities, ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and a safe working environment.
You will also proactively identify, communicate, and escalate potential risks and maintenance concerns through the appropriate channels to support continuous improvement and plant performance.
The Role & About You: - Carry out installation, removal, and maintenance of mechanical equipment including valves, pumps, pipework, rollers, gearboxes, shafts, cutters, chain drives, bearings, and machine guards.
- Perform online and offline inspections of machinery, documenting equipment condition and recommending actions for repair or improvement.
- Collaborate with electricians and engineers to investigate mechanical faults.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns safely and efficiently to minimise downtime.
- Undertake a variety of workshop-based tasks including welding, machining, equipment rebuilds, and repairs to pallets and trucks.
- Perform welding tasks using MIG, stick, and TIG techniques on various equipment.
- Mechanical trade qualifications - Boilermaker trade certification
- Proficiency in welding, metal fabrication, and the use of related tools and equipment
- Commitment to personal safety through following James Hardie’s safety vision
- Good problem-solving skills
- Ability to work as part of a wider team to ensure the ongoing safety and reliable operation of the Manufacturing Plant
- Passion and dedication for reliability and maintainability within a large manufacturing environment operating 24/7
- An understanding of sound maintenance and engineering practice, coupled with the ability to apply this understanding in an operating Manufacturing Plant
- Good written and verbal communication skills
