The Opportunity
As a Mechanical Project Engineer, the primary purpose is to provide technical leadership and direction to continuous improvement and capital projects, with a particular emphasis on bringing a mechanical engineering specialization to the project. The role involves project planning, management and execution of multiple projects simultaneously.
This role will collaborate with key stakeholders from operations, procurement, legal, engineering, and maintenance teams.
What you’ll do
- Follow the company’s FEL engineering processes, through business case to completion and handover for assigned projects.
- Ensure that each project area as defined by CER document is scoped thoroughly with benefits and risks fully documented and analysed.
- Ensure safety is incorporated into design.
- Review of all project design ensuring interfacing to plant and other design elements are feasible.
- Complete design reviews as required with stakeholders such as manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and R&PD teams
- Plant layout and construction drawings drafting or modifications.
- Procurement of components.
- Ensure design and procurement elements are delivered within the pre-determined Budget and Time constraints.
- Ensure the effective communication of and design changes and the project deliverables to key internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage subcontractors to achieve key deliverables.
- Ensure as much as practicably possible that designs are standardised to those existing in the plant or within JH Global
What you’ll bring - Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering (Mechanical)
- Atleast 5 years experience in the mechanical engineering field
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment or similar and preferably fibre cement production; thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures
- Exposure to working with other disciplines in Engineering such as Electrical or Automation
- Knowledgeable of Australian standards
- High-level mechanical aptitude, including understanding of rotating machinery, slurry handling, and material conveying systems
- Solid understanding of MS Project and MS office suite
- SAP experience, including Materials Management, Maintenance, and Purchasing functions
- CAD experience, preferably with the Autodesk suite of products
- Excellent decision making and problem solving skills; the ability to make sound judgements
- Ability to work autonomously, remain organised to achieve goals within the desired timeframes
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
