The Opportunity  

We have a great opportunity for an Intellectual Property Specialist to join our high-performing and innovative R&D Team. Reporting to the Senior Director - Global IP, you will be a motivated, agile, performance-driven individual responsible for supporting the R&D business in delivering results in driving projects forward. 


What you’ll do 

• Empower teams, scientists, and engineers to effectively drive innovative ideas to produce solutions for existing product lines, new products and technologies
• Manage IDF (Invention Disclosure Form) drafting and submittal process for respective division(s) core and NPI (New Product Innovation) R&D projects, assisting IP attorneys with patent prosecution
• Attend IP review meetings and present relevant progress against goals and strategic plans
• Manage non-disclosure agreement (NDA) process for divisional R&D
• Implement a global IP strategic plan as established by the Global IP leader
• Drive timely capture of trade secret information and processes from R&D personnel and others in the company to secure the company’s competitive advantage in the market
• Identify and protect IP generated by the relevant division(s) based JH research team
• Collaborate with the R&D leadership team to create realistic and timely goals for IP capture within and across functional teams
• Align and calibrate all core and NPI R&D research projects with Global IP strategy
• Participate in R&D review meetings to align and maximize the utilization of expertise and sharing of cross-functional resources
• Cultivate collaborative relationships with R&D team members to direct effective research towards appropriate IP space and goals

What you’ll bring 

• Minimum of 3 years of experience and an understanding of Intellectual Property Law and procedures 
• Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals
• Ability to understand the technical components and business decisions/implications of the research projects and be able to answer questions and provide guidance regarding the relevant IP strategy
• Ability to interpret large amounts of data, draw conclusions, and present them to R&D management in a clear and concise manner in writing and/or verbally
