Working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Production Planning, Quality and other internal stakeholders, you’ll ensure materials and components are available to meet production requirements while identifying opportunities to improve procurement processes and supplier performance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading, motivating and developing a team of three Buyers, setting objectives and monitoring performance.
- Managing procurement activities across mechanical and electro-mechanical components, ensuring continuity of supply to manufacturing.

- Developing strong supplier relationships and monitoring performance against cost, quality and delivery targets.
- Driving cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality and service levels.
- Managing supplier shortages, resolving supply chain issues and identifying potential risks.
- Working with Engineering and other stakeholders to identify alternative suppliers, materials and sourcing solutions.
- Improving purchasing processes, orderbook management, inventory control and procurement reporting.
About You You’ll be an experienced procurement or purchasing professional from an engineering, electronics or manufacturing environment, with the commercial awareness and leadership skills to make a positive impact.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Proven experience managing and developing a purchasing or procurement team.
- Experience purchasing mechanical components, including sheet metal or plastics. Experience purchasing electronic/electro-mechanical components would be useful.
- A strong understanding of manufacturing supply chains and production-driven procurement.
- Excellent negotiation skills and experience delivering cost savings and commercial improvements.
- The ability to build effective, long-term supplier relationships and manage supplier performance.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and purchasing or inventory management processes.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The confidence to work collaboratively with stakeholders across Engineering, Manufacturing and the wider business.
The Opportunity This is a chance to take ownership of a key procurement function within an established electronic product manufacturing business, combining team leadership with strategic supplier management and hands-on operational responsibility.
