Lead Manufacturing Technician
Location: Royston, Hertfordshire
Salary: Up to £32,000
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

A growing technology business is looking for a Lead Manufacturing Technician to join its manufacturing team in Royston.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced technician to take on a lead role, supporting the build, testing, fault-finding, repair and continuous improvement of complex electromechanical products.

You will also provide day-to-day guidance to a team of technicians, helping ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

The Role
Working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, you will support day-to-day production while helping improve processes, documentation and technician capability.

The role will suit someone who enjoys being hands-on but is also ready to take on greater responsibility for a team and help drive manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision and support to the technician team
• Build, test, modify and repair electromechanical products
• Provide technical support during manufacturing and assembly
• Fault-find and diagnose issues systematically
• Support repairs and maintenance at operational and customer sites
• Create and improve manufacturing processes and documentation
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste
• Maintain safety, quality and 5S standards
• Support technician training and skills development
• Ensure agreed processes and standards are followed
• Work closely with engineering teams to develop new processes
• Help maintain accurate production and performance records

What We're Looking For

• Several years' experience as a technician within a manufacturing environment
• Previous team leadership or supervisory experience
• Strong practical mechanical and electrical skills
• Experience assembling, modifying, fault-finding and repairing electromechanical systems
• Comfortable reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
• Able to use standard workshop and engineering equipment
• Understanding of sensors, motors, actuators, wiring, connectors and mechanical assemblies
• Methodical approach to fault-finding and problem solving
• Good attention to detail and a practical, hands-on attitude
• Computer literate
• Full clean UK driving licence
• Eligible to work in the UK
