BDO Tauranga is seeking a motivated Business Analyst to join our Deal Advisory & Business Restructuring (BRIS) team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on a diverse range of engagements, helping businesses navigate critical decisions, growth opportunities, and challenging financial situations.
Based in Tauranga, this role offers exposure to a broad variety of advisory projects, industries and client engagements with opportunities to develop technical, commercial and client relationship skills.
About the Role
As a Business Analyst, you will support a wide range of engagements across Deal Advisory, Business Restructuring and Business Advisory Services, including:
- Litigation support
- Investigating accountant reviews
- Distressed business advisory
- Equity raising and debt financing
- Insolvency appointments
- Preparation of financial statements, management reporting and compliance related work.
- Due diligence (buy-side and sell-side)
- Business valuations
- Financial modelling and forecasting
- Mergers and acquisitions
You will assist with analysing financial and business information, preparing reports, conducting research, supporting insolvency engagements, developing financial models, and working closely with clients and stakeholders.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 3+ years' experience in public practice accounting, advisory, corporate finance, insolvency, restructuring, audit, or a related professional services environment.
- Completion of, or progression towards, CA or CFA qualification
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- A genuine interest in business, finance, restructuring, and advisory services.
- A naturally inquisitive and methodical approach.
- Able to work independently
- High levels of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Able to mentor and develop less experienced team members
