About the role
BDO’s Financial Reporting Advisory team is a small, specialised team that provides expert advisory and consulting services with respect to various financial reporting frameworks.
Our team provides personalised services to clients based on their unique needs and to meet the challenges at every stage of their life cycle. To excel in you will need to not only understand key aspects of the application of various financial reporting frameworks, but also be a great communicator, be able to work both independently and as part of our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial statement preparation.
- Lease accounting preparation.
- BDO LEAD lease management.
- Research and analysis on complicated application areas.
- Assisting engagement teams on client projects, including: (for example):
- Transitions to NZ IFRS (PBE IPSAS)
- Mergers, Acquisitions, and Restructures
- Revenue recognition
- Consolidations and equity accounting
Experience We are looking for someone who has:
- 3 years+ of experience (public practice, or commercial).
- Previous business advisory experience with the compilation of financial statements of NZ IFRS and PBE IPSAS reporters (including Tier 2 RDR).
- Experience with moderately-sized group structures, including consolidation, equity accounting, and cash flow statement compilation procedures.
- Lease accounting procedures (schedule compilation and updates).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
- CA or ACCA qualified (or on the path to).
- Has strong commercial acumen and looking for career growth.
- A high level of interpersonal skills.
- Confident, commercially savvy, innovative, detail-oriented, self-starter, highly self-motivated.
- Thrives under pressure.
- A desire for continuous learning and upskilling in the application of NZ IFRS and PBE IPSAS financial reporting frameworks.
