THE TEAM
The Quality & Ethics Team (Q&E Team) is dedicated to safeguarding the BDO New Zealand network through comprehensive quality assurance, proactive risk management including in relation to ethics and independence, financial reporting technical support, and a continuous drive for improvement.
As the Ethics and Independence Senior Manager, you'll be responsible for leading our ethics and independence team, ensuring adherence to ethical standards, providing support and guidance to our partners and senior employees on matters relating to ethics and independence, driving excellence through innovative quality assurance practices, proactive risk management, and a steadfast commitment to continuous improvement.
THE OPPORTUNITY
An exciting opportunity for a dynamic, detail-oriented individual, who is passionate about quality and excellence. You'll have strong organisational and communication skills, a solid understanding of ethical standards and how they apply to various service lines in a professional services environment, and valuable experience as an auditor or in a regulatory role.
- Policy and Compliance Management: Align firm policies with BDO standards, address independence threats, and ensure local policies meet ethical standards.
- Empower Through Knowledge: Provide comprehensive training and development programs that equip our team with the skills and resources needed to excel in their roles and uphold the highest ethical standards and foster a culture of integrity and compliance.
- Project Work: Oversee client data systems, drive the adoption of global conflict checking technology, manage conflict checks, and provide evidence for quality management.
- Communication and Consultation: Advise on quality risks as they relate to ethics and independence, communicate changes, handle ethical consultations, and lead investigations.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop monitoring procedures, manage remediation processes, and improve the Quality Management System.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE FOR SUCCESS: - Extensive auditing or regulatory experience (Manager level or above) within a large corporate, government, or accounting firm.
- Strong organisational, communication, and time management skills.
- Knowledge of NZ and International ethical guidelines.
- Relevant qualifications, with adaptability to learn new technologies.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and proactive team management
