Sea Swift is Northern Australia's largest shipping company, delivering essential marine transport and logistics services to remote communities across the region.
We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environment Advisor to support the development and implementation of Sea Swift’s safety management systems, compliance programs and workplace safety culture. This role will report to our Health and Safety Manager and will require frequent travel to our remote depots in North Queensland and on our marine vessels
The HSE Advisor is responsible for the following:
Driving continuous HSE improvement.
Delivery of risk-based HSE strategies and facilitating and supporting risk reviews of our depots and marine vessels.
Conducting audits and reviews of our operations including our depots and marine vessels to support safety improvement.
Tracking of safety KPIs to identify safety hotspots, review action close out and develop improvement strategies.
Leading and supporting incident investigations.
Engaging and influencing stakeholders whilst driving key safety initiatives
Monitoring compliance with relevant legislation and supporting the business with improvement opportunities
Coaching and mentoring front line workers in HSE management
Providing a highly visible presence at our depots and on our marine vessels.
About you
Qualifications in Health and Safety.
Demonstrated experience in health, safety and environment in a heavy industry environment. Experience in marine will be highly regarded.
Strong understanding of risk management principles.
Understanding and application of current Health & Safety practices and legislation.
Experience in facilitation of investigations - ICAM or similar training.
Excellent communication skills.
An approachable demeanour and a willingness to support various stakeholder groups within the business.
Ability to prepare high quality written reports.
High level computer skills, Highly motivated/self directed.
Good judgement and ability to make sound decisions under adverse conditions.
