About The Role:
As a Senior Audit Manager, you will be a pivotal member of the audit leadership team, playing a crucial role in the delivery of complex audit assignments and the development of the firm's talent. This is a highly autonomous role where you will be instrumental in maintaining existing client relationships, contributing to business development, and driving technical excellence within the team. You will have a clear pathway for progression, with opportunities to contribute to firm strategy and potentially advance to Associate Director or Partner level in the medium term.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a varied portfolio of audit engagements from planning through to finalisation, ensuring strict adherence to professional standards (e.g., ISA, FRS 102) and internal quality control procedures.
Take full ownership of audit budgets, resource allocation, and timelines, ensuring efficient and profitable engagement delivery.
Supervise, motivate, and mentor a diverse team of audit professionals, including managers, seniors, and trainees, fostering their technical development and career progression.
Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with key clients, acting as a primary point of contact and trusted advisor, identifying and addressing their evolving needs.
Proactively identify opportunities to cross-sell value-added services and contribute to the firm’s broader business development initiatives and growth strategies.
Review audit working papers, financial statements, and reports prepared by the team, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality deliverables.
Act as a technical expert, providing guidance on complex accounting and auditing issues to both internal teams and clients.
Champion continuous improvement within the audit function, embracing new technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and quality.
About You
ACA or ACCA qualified with a strong academic background and significant post-qualification audit experience, ideally gained within a reputable mid-tier or Top 100 accountancy firm.
Demonstrable experience in leading and managing complex audit assignments end-to-end, with a proven ability to handle multiple engagements concurrently.
Exceptional technical knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS, with a commitment to staying updated on regulatory changes.
Outstanding leadership and team management skills, with a passion for developing and nurturing talent.
Excellent interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal), and client relationship-building skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
Highly commercially aware, proactive in identifying business development opportunities and contributing to firm growth.
Motivated, meticulous, client-focused, and committed to delivering outstanding results in a fast-paced environment.
