The Accountant is responsible for the end-to-end financial management of residential aged care operations.
We are partnering with a leading, not-for-profit aged care provider located south of the river Brisbane CBD, close to West End, QLD.
The Accountant is responsible for the end-to-end financial management of residential aged care operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with aged care financial, prudential, and statutory requirements, and the delivery of high-quality financial information to the General Manager.
The work you'll be doing:
Financial Management & Control
Manage all aspects of the organisation’s financial accounting functions
Maintain accurate and compliant general ledger records
End-of-Month Accounting & Reporting
Lead the monthly close process, including: Journals and accruals
Balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare accurate monthly: Profit & Loss statements
Cash flow statements
Quarterly Financial Report (QFR)
Prepare the Quarterly Financial Report (QFR) in accordance with Department of Health and Aged Care requirements
Aged Care Financial Report (ACFR)
Prepare and coordinate the Aged Care Financial Report (ACFR) (formerly Annual Financial Report)
Prudential Management & Compliance
Support compliance with prudential responsibilities, including: Accommodation payment records (RADs, DAPs)
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow
Assist with preparation of annual operating and capital budgets
Board Reporting
Prepare high-quality financial reports for: Board meetings, Finance, Audit & Risk Committees
Audit & Risk Support
Prepare financial information for: External audits, Government and funding compliance reviews
Systems, Process Improvement & Documentation
Maintain and enhance financial systems and reporting tools
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance
CPA or CA qualification (or working towards)
Desirable
At least 2-3 year’s experience in residential aged care, health, or not-for-profit
Knowledge of: QFR and ACFR preparation
