Cloud Solutions Architect/ 6 Months Contract / Sydney / Azure, Microsoft, M365
About the Role
Our client is global Real Estate company looking for a Cloud Solution Designer to join their Sydney team.
The Cloud Solutions Architect is an individual contributor contract role embedded within the IT function. You will design and guide scalable, secure Microsoft Azure and M365 cloud solutions, working closely with architecture, delivery, infrastructure, and digital transformation teams.

Duties / Key Responsibilities - Design and document scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure and the M365 stack, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles and the organisation's Cloud First strategy
- Develop solution options, high-level and detailed designs, architectural decisions, and cost estimations for project boards and architecture forums
- Provide architectural oversight during implementation, collaborating with engineering and delivery teams to resolve design questions and validate technical decisions
- Assess and design Copilot-ready solution architectures, ensuring data sources, content structures, and access models support secure and accurate Copilot responses
- Contribute to architecture governance processes, including design reviews, pattern development, and continuous improvement of architecture standards and guardrails
Skills and Experience - Strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Azure services including networking, identity, security, compute, and storage (VNETs, NSGs, VPN/ExpressRoute, etc.)
- In-depth expertise across Microsoft 365 -- SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and related governance and compliance capabilities
- Solid understanding of cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and enterprise architecture frameworks
- Experience creating and managing solution designs, architecture artefacts, and contributing to governance processes
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, ISMS frameworks, and security-by-design principles
- Experience working in structured, project-driven delivery environments; familiarity with ITIL V4
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills -- able to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (essential)
- Microsoft M365 Fundamentals Certified (essential)
- ITIL V4 Foundation Certification (essential)
- Additional Azure, M365, or TOGAF certifications highly regarded
