The Role
As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing Windows-based server and infrastructure environments. This is an exciting role in a growing organisation with opportunity to grow.
Responsibilities
- Managing Infrastructure: Oversee and maintain the Windows-based server and infrastructure, ensuring optimal availability, scalability, and security of the systems.
- Providing Domain Expertise: Offer deep expertise in Windows Server technologies and related systems, guiding troubleshooting and solutions in areas like Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and IIS.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting Systems: Continuously monitor the performance and health of Windows servers, identifying potential issues, troubleshooting, and resolving them to minimize downtime.
- Streamlining Operations with Automation: Develop and implement automation solutions, such as PowerShell scripts, to streamline server management tasks, optimize resource utilization, and reduce manual processes.
- Leading Incident Response: Manage responses to critical incidents within the Windows server environment, ensuring quick resolution, identifying root causes, and applying preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
- Collaborating Across Teams: Work closely with other IT teams—such as developers, security specialists, and network engineers—to ensure server infrastructure is well-integrated with broader technology goals.
- Documenting and Sharing Knowledge: Maintain detailed documentation for Windows server configurations, troubleshooting steps, and operational processes, and share knowledge across teams to improve efficiency.
- Ensuring Security and Compliance: Ensure Windows server systems are compliant with internal security policies and external regulations. Manage patching, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening.
- Planning Capacity and Performance: Analyze server performance and usage trends, providing recommendations for scaling and resource management to ensure systems meet business demands.
