We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior ServiceNow Developer to join a newly formed team for one of our key clients.
You will initially engage on a 5-month contract through Advance Thinking, driving key delivery outcomes, with a structured pathway to transition into a permanent position directly with our client.
In this role, you will work closely with internal stakeholders to guide and improve the client's ServiceNow ways of working, driving platform maturity across ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, IRM, CSDM, and Integrations. This provides the immediate speed and flexibility of a contract engagement, backed by the long-term security of a permanent internal role with a leading utilities organisation.
The Role
Representing Advance Thinking during your initial contract, you will play a hands-on role in delivering key ServiceNow initiatives for our client while embedding platform best practices to ensure a seamless transition into their permanent team.
You will balance direct platform development with systems administration, technical leadership, and stakeholder engagement across diverse enterprise business units.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Build & Governance: Design, configure, develop, and maintain the ServiceNow platform across ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, and IRM modules.
- Technical Scoping & Scoping: Provide technical guidance for ServiceNow implementation projects from initial scoping and technical architecture through to deployment.
- Data Architecture & CSDM: Implement and govern the CSDM framework across application, product, and portfolio models.
- Integrations & Automation: Build enterprise integrations and automations using Integration Hub (IHUB) and platform scripting.
- Process Optimisation: Apply continuous improvement principles to streamline platform workflows, eliminate operational waste, and maximize system efficiency.
- Operational Support: Provide operational support, manage update sets, monitor system queues, and maintain platform security standards.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with business, digital, and field operations stakeholders to translate business needs into fit-for-purpose ServiceNow solutions.
- Documentation & Upskilling: Provide high-quality technical documentation, platform guidance, and hands-on upskilling for internal team members and platform users.
Key Delivery Areas The role will involve development and delivery across the following core ServiceNow capability areas:
- ITSM: Incident, Problem, and Change Management configuration/enhancement; Service Catalog and workflow optimisation.
- ITOM: Discovery, CMDB, and infrastructure workflow support; Data updates and lifecycle management.
- HRSD: Contribute to design solution options for HRSD services and categories; Configuration and support of HR case management and employee service centre workflows.
- IRM: Configuration of risk, compliance, and audit workflows within the Integrated Risk Management module.
- CSDM & Architecture: Configuration and governance of the Common Service Data Model across APM, SPM, DPM, and SRM.
- Integrations & Automation: Design, delivery, and support of integrations connecting ServiceNow with other enterprise systems using Integration Hub and APIs.
About You You are an experienced Senior ServiceNow Developer / Administrator with a proven background delivering within complex, enterprise environments.
Key Experience & Attributes - Enterprise Background: Strong experience as a ServiceNow Developer within complex, enterprise, or multi-tenant environments (Utilities or critical infrastructure experience highly regarded).
- Core Module Capability: Hands-on development and configuration expertise across ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, IRM, CSDM, and Integrations (IHUB).
- Continuous Improvement Mindset: Track record of developing solutions to optimise processes, eliminate operational waste, and improve end-user experiences.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across technical, business, and operational teams.
- Autonomy: Ability to manage priorities, deliver high-quality technical documentation, and work autonomously across an evolving project roadmap.
Certifications & Technical Qualifications - Certifications: ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and/or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in relevant modules.
- ITIL / Methodology: Strong understanding of ITIL processes and Agile/Lean delivery methodologies.
- Integrations: Confident with enterprise technology data, APIs, and Integration Hub (IHUB) workflows
