This new part-time (0.5 FTE) role is a rare opportunity to join a purpose-led organisation that works at the intersection of innovation, collaboration and community impact. It is one that exists to help organisations work better together, reduce costs, lift capability and deliver better outcomes for communities.
The business is entering an exciting new phase. Having successfully delivered shared services in one region, it is now preparing to grow its impact more broadly across New Zealand. This role is central to that growth.
The Opportunity:
As Growth Development Manager, you will play a pivotal, externally facing role supporting growth aspirations. This is not a hard-sell sales role; it’s a strategic, relationship-led position where success comes from understanding customer challenges, shaping compelling value propositions, and building trusted, long-term partnerships.
Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Services, you’ll work closely with service delivery leads, finance, marketing and executive stakeholders, connecting internal capability with external opportunity.
As this is a newly created position, you will have the opportunity to shape the role. You’ll bring ideas and build on them as the position evolves within the organisation.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Identifying, developing and progressing new opportunities aligned to strategy
- Building trusted relationships, including with senior executive and operational stakeholders
- Supporting shared service leads to ready existing services for scalable, commercial delivery
- Contributing to proposals, growth plans and go-to-market readiness
- Helping identify pricing, resourcing, delivery and operational considerations for expansion
- Leading negotiations and securing agreements that create mutual, long-term value
- Representing the organisation at industry events and stakeholder forums
- Supporting smooth onboarding of new customers into shared services
- Applying change management principles to support customers adopting new ways of working
About You: You are commercially minded, politically savvy and highly credible in relationship-based environments. You are comfortable operating in complexity. You enjoy shaping opportunities from early concept through to signed agreement, and you are motivated by meaningful work and understand that sustainable commercial outcomes are strongest when they are built on genuine value, shared purpose and strong relationships. What you’ll bring:
- Proven experience in business development, commercial, or growth-focused roles
- Experience working in complex decision-making environments where success depends on influence and trust rather than hard selling
- Experience developing proposals, contributing to pricing models and negotiating agreements
- Comfortable prospecting for leads
- A strategic mindset with the discipline to manage pipelines and deliver results
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence working autonomously while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in or with local government is highly desirable, but not essential.
Why This Role Stands Out: - Your work directly supports customers to deliver better outcomes for communities nationwide
- You’ll be the face of growth for a nationally relevant organisation
- This role combines market development, commercial thinking and relationship leadership
- You’ll have the space to shape how growth is achieved
If you’re motivated by meaningful growth, complex stakeholder environments, and the chance to shape a national expansion story, this role will genuinely stretch you.
