Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll take ownership of operational performance, fleet utilisation, people and profitability. It's a senior, hands-on role where your decisions will have a direct impact on how the business performs and grows.
About the Role
You'll bring together people, equipment and customer requirements to keep operations running safely, efficiently and profitably.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing daily operations, scheduling and fleet movements.
- Maximising fleet utilisation and minimising downtime.
- Monitoring revenue, costs, productivity and profitability.
- Managing key client relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
- Leading supervisors, drivers, allocators and support teams.
- Coordinating workforce planning, maintenance and project mobilisation.
- Driving safety and heavy vehicle compliance.
- Improving operational systems, processes and performance.
- Supporting tenders, pricing and new business opportunities.
You'll balance day-to-day demands with longer-term planning, making sure the operation is ready for upcoming work while delivering on client expectations.
About You You're more than someone who keeps the trucks moving. You're a commercially minded leader who understands how people, fleet and financial performance work together to build a successful transport operation.
You'll bring:
- Significant leadership experience in transport, logistics, heavy haulage or mining services.
- A strong track record in fleet performance, utilisation and operational efficiency.
- Commercial confidence, with the ability to manage budgets, control costs and improve profitability.
- Experience leading diverse teams and managing complex operational demands.
- The ability to build lasting client relationships and identify opportunities for growth.
- Strong decision-making skills and a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Sound knowledge of heavy vehicle compliance, WHS, Chain of Responsibility and fatigue management.
You're comfortable making the tough calls, holding people accountable and taking ownership of results. You can step back to plan strategically, but you're equally prepared to get involved when the operation needs you.
What's on Offer? - Salary $160-$180k dependant on experience, plus company vehicle, phone and laptop.
- Direct access to the Managing Director.
- Genuine authority to influence business performance.
- A varied operation across multiple transport divisions.
- The opportunity to shape the next stage of business growth.
- Toowoomba based
