Machine Operator & Maintenance Technician
 
Location: 1 North Wainwright Rd, Athol, QLD 4350
Reports to: Foreman
Full-Time | Manufacturing & Production | Immediate Start
 
Are you mechanically minded and hands-on with a passion for keeping operations running smoothly? We're on the lookout for a Machine Operator & Maintenance Technician to join our high-performing team supporting key manufacturing processes — including composting, fertiliser batching, granulation, bagging, and palletising.
 

About the Role
 
As a Machine Operator and Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the daily operation and upkeep of machinery. Your focus will be on ensuring machines run at optimal performance by performing setups, conducting routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and keeping detailed records.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and configure a range of manufacturing machines
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to minimise downtime
• Feed raw materials into machines and monitor output for quality
• Conduct routine inspections and performance testing
• Keep detailed logs and maintenance records
• Work collaboratively with the Foreman and wider team
• Ensure compliance with all WHS procedures and site safety requirements
• Assist in keeping work areas clean, safe, and hazard-free

What You'll Need

• Proven experience in a machine operator or maintenance role within manufacturing or similar
• Strong mechanical aptitude with basic troubleshooting skills
• Ability to safely lift and carry items up to 25kg regularly (30kg infrequent, team/ machine lift over 30kg)
• Willingness to perform manual labour (e.g. shovelling) and work in physically demanding environments
• High attention to detail and ability to keep accurate records
• Ability to follow WHS procedures and safety protocols

  
Essential Licences & Requirements

• LF Class Forklift Licence (Current & Valid)
• Physically fit and capable of performing up to 8 hours of physical work daily
• Comfortable working in a dusty, industrial environment with occasional exposure to odours
• Visual and manual dexterity sufficient for operating equipment and performing inspections
• Willing to participate in ongoing WHS and training sessions
