About our Client:
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) plays a vital role in supporting the growth and sustainability of South Australia's building and construction industry.
Working closely with employers, industry associations, training providers and government, CITB invests in training and workforce development initiatives that help build the skills and capability needed to support the industry's future.
With a strong industry purpose and a passionate, close-knit team, CITB is seeking an accomplished executive to join its senior leadership team and contribute to the organisation's continued success.
About the Opportunity: CITB is seeking a General Manager, Levy and Workforce Development to take on a newly created executive leadership role with significant scope to shape the position and make a meaningful impact.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will provide strategic leadership across a diverse portfolio encompassing education and training, industry funding, levy operations, industry engagement, and operational compliance and audit.
As part of a close-knit organisation of approximately 35 employees, this is a hands-on executive role that combines strategic leadership with practical involvement in delivering outcomes. You will work closely with your managers and teams, contributing directly to key initiatives, solving problems and driving continuous improvement. A significant aspect of the role will involve building strong industry networks, engaging with senior stakeholders and representing CITB across the construction, training and government sectors.
Working in collaboration with the CEO, Board and broader leadership team, you will influence strategic priorities, guide investment in skills development and lead a passionate team committed to supporting South Australia's construction workforce.
Key Responsibilities: - Providing strategic and operational leadership across workforce development, education and training, levy operations and industry engagement.
- Leading the development and delivery of CITB's Training Plan, ensuring initiatives respond to industry needs and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Building trusted relationships with employers, industry associations, government, training providers and other key stakeholders.
- Overseeing the administration of industry training levies, funding arrangements and operational compliance requirements.
- Providing strategic advice, performance insights and recommendations to the CEO and Board.
- Leading and developing a capable team, encouraging collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
About You: We are seeking an accomplished, strategically minded executive who brings strong leadership capability, sound commercial judgement and a genuine interest in workforce and industry development. You will have a demonstrated understanding of vocational education and training (VET), workforce development and funding arrangements, together with experience leading complex programs or service portfolios within a regulated or policy-driven environment.
Your background may be in vocational education and training, an industry association, workforce development, government, industry funding or a comparable organisation where stakeholder engagement, program delivery and regulatory accountability are central to success.
To succeed in this role, you will bring: - Demonstrated senior leadership experience, with the ability to lead diverse teams, develop managers and deliver organisational outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of VET, workforce development and funding arrangements, including the ability to translate policy and industry needs into practical initiatives.
- Experience overseeing significant programs, budgets and service delivery within legislative, regulatory or compliance frameworks.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, networking and influencing skills, with the ability to develop productive relationships across industry, government and training sectors.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical capability and sound judgement, supported by the ability to provide clear advice to executive leaders and Boards.
- A collaborative, engaging and outcomes-focused leadership style, with the ability to build relationships and inspire teams.
You will be a practical, adaptable and collaborative leader who enjoys working in a smaller organisation where you can make a direct contribution. Equally comfortable thinking strategically and getting involved in the detail when required, you will bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to turn ideas into action.
A relevant tertiary qualification in education, training, business, management, public policy or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated senior leadership experience, is required. Experience within the construction industry, industry-based funding arrangements or statutory levy operations will be highly regarded, although not essential.
Above all, you will be a credible and approachable leader who enjoys engaging with industry, building relationships and making a genuine difference.
Why join CITB: This is a rewarding opportunity to join an organisation with a clear industry purpose, where your leadership and expertise will contribute to the future of South Australia's construction workforce. As a newly created role, you will have the opportunity to shape the position, influence strategic priorities and lead a passionate team committed to delivering meaningful outcomes.
CITB also offers a range of attractive benefits, including: - New, fitted-out offices on Greenhill Road, Wayville, conveniently located on the Adelaide CBD fringe, with parking available.
- Flexible working arrangements, including one day working from home each week and flexible start and finish times.
- Additional gifted leave between Christmas and New Year, plus a day off to celebrate your birthday.
- A supportive, close-knit team, with a collaborative culture and shared commitment to industry outcomes.
- Genuine influence and involvement, with the opportunity to shape a newly created executive role, work closely with the CEO and contribute directly to strategic and operational outcomes.
- Extensive industry engagement, with opportunities to build influential networks and represent CITB across the sector.
If you are seeking an executive opportunity that offers professional variety, genuine influence and the chance to contribute to an important South Australian industry, this could be the role for you.
