As an LPN in Med/Surg/OBS, you will provide essential nursing care to patients in the obstetrics unit, supporting the medical and surgical aspects of pregnancy and postpartum care.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting assessments of obstetric patients, gathering health information to support the RN or physician’s evaluation.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians or nurse practitioners.
- Monitor and record vital signs, fetal heart rates, and other key health indicators in compliance with established protocols.
- Collaborate with the obstetric care team to deliver patient care based on the care plan developed by RNs or physicians.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families on topics such as childbirth, postpartum care, and newborn care, as directed by the supervising nurse or doctor.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
Requirements: - Current, unrestricted LPN license in your province.
- 1 year acute care (med/surg) experience required within the last 5 years.
- Current and active BLS-HCP is required.
- Medication administration is required.
- Post-partum experience is preferred.
- Must have current and active NRP.
- Current and active ACLS and Connect Care trained is preferred.
