As an RN in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), you will provide high-quality, specialized care to critically ill and premature newborns. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to monitor, assess, and manage the care of neonates, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout their hospital stay.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor neonates' health status, including vital signs, medication administration, and adherence to treatment plans.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.
- Educate and support families on their newborn’s condition, treatment options, and care practices.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of patients, addressing any ethical concerns and ensuring the highest standard of care.
- Ensure adherence to established protocols, policies, and best practices to maintain patient safety.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to continually enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Current, unrestricted RN license in your province.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent NICU nursing experience.
- Current BLS, NRP, and ACLS certifications.
- ACORN or STABLE Certification (Preferred but not required).
- Breast feeding education (Preferred but not required).
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
