Interior Design Technician – In-House Studio (Retail Environments)
Location: Central London
Working Set-up: Hybrid
Salary: £40,000–£45,000
 
We’re working with a major UK-based business seeking a talented Interior Design Technician to join their in-house design team. This is a rare opportunity to combine technical expertise with design sensibility, shaping customer-facing environments across a wide network of commercial branches.
 
The Role:
You’ll be translating design blueprints into precise layouts and technical drawings, ensuring each location aligns with brand standards, customer experience goals, and regulatory requirements. The work spans both interiors and exteriors (think facias and window displays), with a big emphasis on functionality, flow, and brand identity.
 
What You’ll Be Doing:

• Producing detailed technical drawings using AutoCAD, based on external agency design templates
• Space planning for a variety of retail-type layouts, ensuring optimal flow and usability
• Selecting finishes and FF&E from a pre-approved catalogue
• Liaising with internal stakeholders and external contractors to deliver designs on time and on budget
• Ensuring compliance with H&S and UK building regulations
• Supporting sustainability and innovation within the built environment

 
What They’re Looking For:

• 5+ years’ experience in a similar role (retail, commercial or financial services environments ideal)
• Strong skills in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite
• Knowledge of UK building regs and accessibility standards
• Excellent communication and project coordination skills
• A proactive and adaptable mindset – this is a brand new role, so someone happy to shape it!
