Junior Quantity Surveyor
The Role
We are seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to support construction project management activities across a diverse portfolio. This role is crucial in ensuring projects are accurately costed, tendered, and financially tracked. The ideal candidate will assist in maintaining project timelines and budgets by assessing client requirements, calculating costs, and monitoring progress.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Calculate material quantities, labour costs, and project timeframes.
• Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates, forecasts, and budgets.
• Support the development of cost control systems and feasibility studies.
• Provide accurate weekly cost tracking across all active projects.
• Ensure contractors and suppliers deliver value for money and comply with health and safety regulations.
• Assist project managers with issue resolution and snagging follow-ups.
• Conduct site visits to ensure accurate cost assessments and monitor progress.
• Contribute to value engineering without compromising build quality.
• Maintain transparent communication of costs to external clients.
• Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, and bills of quantities.
• Track project changes and adjust budgets accordingly.
• Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts.
• Support procurement of contractors, subcontractors, and materials, ensuring commercial assessments are completed efficiently.
• Collaborate with clients and construction professionals, including site managers and engineers.

Requirements:

• Proactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset.
• Experience with contractor and client-side contracts within retail, leisure, or hospitality fit-outs.
• Track record of delivering high-end retail interior projects across the UK.
• Strong understanding of construction safety and H&S legislation.
• Excellent ability to build trust and strong client relationships.
• Proficiency in Excel, including formulas and spreadsheet development.
• Health & safety certifications (CSCS/SMSTS) are desirable.
• Valid UK driving license.
