S&P BROKER, TANKERS
Shanghai
THE OPENING
A shipbroking house within an international shipowning group is putting its first sale and purchase broker on the ground in Shanghai. The group already does business with Chinese owners, yards and leasing houses. Now it wants someone in the market every day, turning those relationships into closed deals for its global S&P desk. This is a new seat, and whoever takes it gets to shape it.
THE ROLE
Your job is to build and work a network across Chinese tanker owners, leasing houses and shipyards, and bring sale and purchase business out of it. You’ll market tanker tonnage to Chinese buyers, find vessels for international clients, and take deals from first contact through negotiation to close with colleagues in Europe. You’ll follow vessel values and recent sales closely enough that both the desk and clients rely on your market view. You’ll report into the global S&P desk and work day-to-day with the group’s China lead. You’re the first broker in this market, so what you build becomes the platform for the business.
