Operations Manager - Tankers

A commodities group with its own maritime desk in Singapore is looking for an Operations Manager to run the daily operations of its tanker programme. The desk wants someone who can take the reins and own the operation from day one. You will step into a team that has recently strengthened its senior leadership.

The role
You will own the operational execution of a live tanker programme: voyage orders, laytime and demurrage, port and agency coordination, and keeping cargo moving on time and on spec. You will lead a team of three commercial operations executives based in Singapore, reporting to a newly appointed Senior Operations Manager. This is a demanding seat where you stay close to the detail. The decisions you make on voyage execution and claims carry direct commercial impact, and you will be the person the desk relies on to keep things running when the pressure is on.

The right person

• 3 to 5 years in senior tanker operations, ideally from a similar cargo or trading environment. You know voyage operations end to end and can hold your own on laytime and demurrage.
• Strong written and spoken English, which is the working language across the team and its daily operations. Mandarin or Bahasa Indonesia is a plus but not required.
• A steady operator who can manage a small team, juggle competing priorities, and stay calm and precise under pressure.
• If you are earlier in your operations career but strong on the fundamentals, there is also an Assistant Operations Manager version of this role open to the right person.
