Fleet HSSEQ Manager

An established LNG shipping operator is in the middle of a major fleet expansion and is creating a senior regional role to lead health, safety, environment and quality across its growing fleet. This is the top HSSEQ position in the business, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. It's a chance to set standards and build a department during a period of serious growth.

THE ROLE

• You will be the senior-most HSSEQ authority in the operation and the custodian of its Safety Management System, holding direct responsibility for a substantial portfolio of LNG vessels. This is high-stakes and high-visibility, accountable directly to the executive.
• Carry the Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and Company Security Officer (CSO) functions, acting as the focal point for ISM, ISPS and Flag State matters
• Run the internal and external audit programme, steer TMSA and SIRE performance, and lead accident and incident investigation and risk assessment
• Oversee environmental reporting obligations and lead a small specialist team

THE RIGHT PERSON

• Direct, hands-on LNG experience is non-negotiable — LPG exposure is useful but will not substitute for it. This is the single most important requirement.
• Substantial HSSEQ experience in oil and gas marine or shipping, including time in a senior leadership role, with lead auditor credentials for ISM and ISPS and a strong grounding in ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.
• A sailing background with a Master Mariner Certificate of Competency is strongly preferred (officer-level considered); candidates without seafaring experience will be considered only with a Bachelor's or Master's degree. Shipowner experience is preferred, ship management acceptable.

WHY THIS ROLE
You'd be shaping the safety and quality backbone of a fleet during a rare period of expansion, carrying the DPA and CSO mandate, with real authority and a direct line to the COO. The scale and seniority on offer here are unusual for the market.
