Overview of the Role

Yackandandah Health Medical Centre is seeking a Vocationally Registered (VR) General Practitioner to provide locum or casual coverage from 14 August 2026 until the end of September 2026, with the opportunity for an ongoing part-time position for the right candidate.
We are a well-established, community-focused rural general practice located in North East Victoria and are co-located with an 84-bed Residential Aged Care Facility. The successful applicant will join a supportive and collaborative team consisting of experienced GPs, nursing staff, administration staff, and allied health professionals.
The role includes providing comprehensive general practice services to community patients, with the opportunity to participate in Residential Aged Care services.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centred general practice care.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Develop and implement management plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records using Best Practice software.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, administration staff, and other healthcare providers.
• Participate in preventative health, chronic disease management, care planning, and health assessments.
• Residential Aged Care visits are available.

 Essential Qualifications, Registration & Experience

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM).
• Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner.
• Vocationally Registered (VR) GP eligible to bill Medicare.
• Current Medicare Provider Number (or eligibility to obtain one).
• Current Prescriber Number.
• Current Professional Indemnity Insurance.
• Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
• Current Working with Children Check (Victoria) or willingness to obtain.
• Current CPR certification.
• Experience using Best Practice software is desirable but not essential.
• Previous rural general practice experience would be highly regarded.

 Remuneration

• Competitive percentage-based remuneration (65% of billings) or an agreed daily locum rate, depending on the successful applicant and engagement arrangements.
• Accommodation and travel assistance may be negotiated for locum applicants.

 Hours

• Approximately 4 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday), with flexibility for the right applicant.
• No after-hours or on-call requirements.
